Ozie Bell Holmes, 80, Vero Beach

Ozie Bell Holmes, 80, of Vero Beach, passed away on Thursday Aug. 14, 2014, at Indian River Medical Center. She was born on April 6, 1934, in Shipperville, AL, and has been a resident of Indian River County since 1956.

Ozie was a homemaker and she loved gardening, flowers and reading her bible. She was a member of Community Baptist Church where she served as mother of the church.

Survivors include her sons, Jimmy (Elaine) Killings Sr., Arthur Lee Killings Jr., of Vero Beach, James (Sabrina) Killings Sr., of Fellsmere, Michael (Meranda) Killings, Sr., Luther Allen Jr., of Vero Beach; daughters, Patricia Canady, of Vero Beach Emma J. Starks, Gloria F. Killings, of Vero Beach; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Ozie was preceded in death by her daughter, Loraine Hamilton; parents, Emma Thomas and Tellis Snell; five brothers and nine sisters.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Friday Aug. 22, 2014, at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday Aug. 23, 2014, at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church ,4455 28th Ave., Gifford. Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery, Gifford.
