Loretta Lotz, 95, of Vero Beach, passed away on Aug. 16, 2014.
She is survived by her daughters Georgia A. Lotz and Patricia A. Presnell (Craig Albrecht); three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 16 loving nieces and nephews; and her devoted godsons Tiny and Perry.
She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Lotz, her four siblings and their spouses: Angelo and Margie Capobianco, Daniel and Lucy Capobianco, Albert and Madeline Capobianco and Erwin (Hank) and Rose (Capobianco) Holst.
Lotz was a devout Catholic, involved in every parish near which she lived, including St. Rocco’s in Glen Cove, N.Y., St. Mary’s in Roslyn, N.Y., St. Edward’s in Syosset, N.Y. and Holy Cross and St. John of the Cross both of Vero Beach.
She worked at Altman’s and C.W. Post College (L. I. University) and after her daughters graduated from college, she attended Nassau Community College. She always had a love for learning. She was a consummate home maker, a fabulous cook, and highly creative – extending to crewel work, dress making and creative, exquisite beaded flowers.
She and Bill raised their family in Glenwood Landing and after 25 years moved to Syosset, N.Y. They both enjoyed being members of the Bay Club and working with the Parkinson’s support group.
In 1988 they retired to Vero Beach to enjoy their new life near the boardwalk. After her husband’s passing she moved to Indian River Estates (ACTS) where she continued to follow her creative pursuits. She started the “Curio Cabinet” display and for nine years directed the display of the resident’s art work and collectables.
Lotz enjoyed being a Red Hat Lady and was affectionately called by this community the “beaded flower lady.”
In lieu of flowers friends are encouraged to plant a tree or donate to Alzheimers/Parkinsons Association, 2300 5th Avenue Suite 150, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
