Gifford man arrested for sex with girl, 15

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A Gifford man has been arrested after trying to gain access to a 15-year-old’s window to have sex with her, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Stacey Jones, 22, was arrested Sunday around midnight, and faces a charge of lewd or lascivious battery, according to the report.

On Sunday, Aug. 3, around 11 p.m., the victim let Jones into her bedroom through her window at her home. The victim said that she and Jones watched television in her bedroom, the report states.

Dep. Sunkel asked if she had sexual intercourse with Jones and she said yes. She also said that Jones knew she was underage.

On Aug. 16 around 11:30 p.m. authorities were called and advised that deputies were out with Jones because he attempted to gain access to her bedroom again by going through her window, according to authorities.

The victim, that night, said that she did not ask Jones to go to her house, according to the Sheriff’s Office. She said that she didn’t know Jones was trying to get into her bedroom.

Jones is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail on $15,000 bond, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office website.
