The office of elections conducts voter registration and issues voter information cards, updates voter registration lists and provides for absentee registration and absentee voting. The office of elections also is responsible for qualifying candidates for county office and receiving candidate campaign finance reports and financial disclosure reports. Florida Division of Elections

The Florida Division of Elections oversees all things election related. The department's mission it is to provide statewide coordination and direction for the interpretation and enforcement of election laws, as required by the Florida Statutes, and to provide supervision to the Bureaus in the division, according to the site. Two members are elected on odd-numbered years, while the remaining three are elected on even-numbered years.  City Council candidates run at-large and represent the entire city. Candidates must be qualified Electors in the City and have continually resided in the City for a period of six months immediately preceding the final date for qualification as a candidate. City Council terms begin at the first regular meeting subsequent to the election. The Mayor, Vice Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tern are elected by the City Council each year from among its members at the first regular meeting subsequent to the election.
