Steven Paul Haight, 49, of Vero Beach, passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2014.
He is survived by his wife Amy Ellwood; son Donald Vincent Haight and his mother, Robin Rottner; stepson, Kyle; father, Edward Capaldo; brothers, Gary Haight and Michael Haight; sister, Donna Esmiol; and nephew, Jamie Ross.
His mother, Diane Capaldo and his niece, Jackie Hayhurst, daughter of Donna, preceded him in death.
Haight was born Nov. 24, 1964 in Ithaca, N.Y. and graduated from Cicero-North High School before moving to Colorado where he started his family. He eventually settled in Vero Beach in 1997.
After many years as a restaurant manager and later an award-winning software salesman for SpectorSoft Corporation, Haight found his niche as a business owner. He owned and operated the popular “Grooves” record store in Vero, an endeavor that was a lifelong dream come true for him. In addition, he managed his son Donnie’s musical career and together, they volunteered their time and talents to various charitable endeavors.
To honor Haight’s memory, friends are invited to a Memorial Benefit on Saturday, July 26, at the Kilted Mermaid, located at 1937 Old Dixie Hwy from 2 to 5 p.m. The benefit will feature a silent auction and live music. The Haight family wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support that has helped us in this difficult time.
