Elizabeth Wedderburn, 97, of Vero Beach, passed away on June 28, 2014.
She is survived by nephews, Albert Wallace Hovey-King, Flynn Albert Ragsdale, Jonathan Richard Varney, Dylan Joseph Sartwell, Donovan Duane Sartwell, Kinnick Luke Etcher, Peter John Boman and Samuel Wallace Boman; nieces, Elizabeth Cuyler Hovey-King Ragsdale (Andy), Nancy Louise Hovey-King Morris (Johnny), Tamara Nelle Morris Sartwell ,Teresa Helen Morris Boman (Theodore), Elizabeth Louise Boman Baxter (Daniel), Barbara Adeline Boman Etcher (Matthew), Kloe Adeline Etcher, Karley Jo Etcher and Michelle Joy Boman; sister-in-law George ”Sue” Glynn (John) and their children, Sherry Glynn Downey, Bob Glynn, George Ann Glynn, Peter Glynn and nephew, Michael West (Sydney).
Bette was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Augustus, on July 23, 1998, Her brother Albert George Hovey-King, and great-great nephew, Jeffrey Wayne Varney.
Wedderburn was married on Feb. 10, 1940 to Augustus Wedderburn in Washington D.C. They lived in Falls Church, Va. for most of their married life. They spent a great deal of time in Vero Beach and relocated to Indian River Estates permanently in 1986.
She was a very accomplished artist and worked predominantly in oils as well as pencil and pastel sketches. She studied at the Corcoran College of Art, worked at the National Gallery of Art and had also been a long-time member of the Falls Church Episcopal Church and the Falls Church Women’s Club.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 19, in Oakwood Cemetery, Falls Church, Va.
