On Saturday, July 26, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Sebastian Elks Club will open its doors to the family and friends of Jim Hanford and his wife, “Little Debbi” Hanford, and to the general public, for a night of music, food, raffles and games.
The event even got a mention at the most recent July 9 Sebastian city council meeting, when Councilwoman Andrea Coy urged as many Sebastian residents as possible to attend the fundraising event for the special local couple.
“Little Debbi” frequently shares her beautiful voice, leading the national anthem at various community events and, together, the North County couple have helped many people in Sebastian and Fellsmere.
They have participated in numerous community activities and organizations, including the Sebastian Elks, VFW and American Legion, to name a few.
Now Jim Hanford is going through a very difficult time in his life, battling cancer, and the Elks Club is urging the community to rally around the couple.
The event will include music for dancing by Yogi and Company. There will be pulled pork sandwiches, sausage-onions-and-peppers sandwiches or chicken wings available for purchase. The lounge will be open for purchasing drinks, soft and hard.
Five different items will be raffled off, at $5 a ticket. The winner chooses a timeshare he or she would prefer from the following list of choices: A one-week timeshare for six people in Orlando (several locations available) with all fees paid, or a one-week timeshare in the Caribbean or Mexico for up to four people with all fees paid. Transportation costs ARE NOT included to either timeshare; the winner will have to pay all transportation costs.
Other prizes include two separate drawings each for a $50 Visa gift card, two Friday night dinners and a $10 drink card at the Sebastian Elks Lodge (the winner chooses which Friday), and a basket of cheer.
Proceeds of the benefit will go to Jim and Debbi Hanford. Everyone is invited to come out, have some fun and while doing that, help two wonderful people from our community in their time of need.
