Today marks 8 years since the murder of Vero Beach woman

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate an 8-year-old Vero Beach murder case, according to their release.

On July 15, 2006, 87-year-old Helen Regene McPherson was murdered at her home in the 2600 block of 49th Avenue in Vero Beach, according to authorities.

The several promising leads have been uncovered by the Criminal Investigations Section and authorities are working with forensic experts in order to develop the evidence necessary to arrest and convict the suspect responsible for the brutal homicide.

“Somebody out there knows or saw something the night Ms. McPherson was murdered. That information may be what we need to close this case. I am confident that we will get justice for Ms. McPherson and her family,” said Indian River County Sheriff Deryl in the release.
