Jake Owen tops charts with ‘Beachin’

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Fourth of July weekend turned out to be another milestone in country music star Jake Owen’s career when his single “Beachin’” from his latest album “Days of Gold” topped the country music charts.

Listed as No. 1 on both Mediabase and the Billboard Hot Country charts, the Vero Beach native took to Twitter to thank his fans for his most recent success.

“What a great way to end such an awesome July 4th weekend…#Beachin is the #1 song in the country!! Thanks to RADIO and all my fans,” the tweet read.

“Beachin’” is Owen’s fifth No. 1 single since his first big hit “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” released in 2011. The song, like many of his hits, has become a summertime staple for county music fans nationwide.

Though his fan base stretches far wider than his hometown of Vero Beach, the artist has traditionally made a special effort to pay tribute to the city as mentions of his favorite Vero Beach landmarks have been written into several of his songs.

He’s also been known to make surprise appearances at the Riverside Café, one of Owen’s self-proclaimed favorite watering holes.

But Owen’s fans should not be expecting him to pop in on his Vero Beach fan base any time soon as he is currently traveling the country on his Days of Gold tour. The good news for Vero Beach is, Owen is wrapping up his so far wildly successful tour in Vero Beach on Oct. 25.

Across social media, the hashtags “Beachin” and “DaysOfGold” have taken off, depicting fans’ making summer memories, just as the song encourages. Photos with the hashtag attached can be viewed on the homepage of Owen’s official website, www.jakeowen.net.
