INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Among a list of Consent Agenda items County Commissioners approved on Tuesday was the awarding of a bid from Guettler Brothers Construction to repair beach and dunes damaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
Guettler Brothers, according to official documentation, was the lowest bidder of nine company’s that bid on the job, offering to complete the project for just under $3,077,000.
The cost will be partially covered by state grant funds allotted for the repair of the Sector 3 Beach and Dune Restoration Project in which a cost share ratio of 50 percent State and 50 percent local, or a maximum of $2,700,000 in State funding is applicable.
“Local funding of Beach Restoration includes a portion of Local Option Tourist Tax Revenue as well as allocation of the One Cent Sales Tax,” according to official documentation. For fiscal year 2013-2014, “funding is budgeted and available for construction of the Sector 3 Dune Repair Project in the Beach Restoration Fund.”
A separate item approved on Tuesday’s consent agenda is an annual resolution required by the State of Florida from local governments “requesting funding assistance through the Beach Erosion Control Program.”
According to the provided information, the County expects to request 50 percent of the “post construction monitoring costs for the Sector 3 Beach Restoration Project and for a Sector 5 Beach Nourishment Project feasibility study.”
Also via Tuesday’s consent agenda, Commissioners approved the 2015 Holiday Schedule for county employees, funding allocation to the Children’s Services Advisory Committee in the amount of $624,000 for fiscal year 2014/2015, a change in the contract for the Water Plants Lime Slurry Injection Project, and an approval to extend the County’s agreement with FX Software.
