Joy Auten Robertson, passed away June 23, 2014, from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Born in Charlotte, NC, in 1935 she grew up in northern Indian River County.
After graduating from Vero Beach High School, she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University and Stetson University.
She taught in public and private schools in New Mexico and Florida. Joy was active in civic and charitable organizations including the South Brevard Panhellenic Association, Junior League of South Brevard, The Junior League of Austin, The Haven for Children, The Haven Guild and the Tri Delta Sorority Alumni Association.
Married to James C. Robertson, Jr. in 1957, she is survived by Mr. Robertson and their two daughters, Jill Klucher and Merry C. Schmidt, and a grandson, Jacob Schmidt.
A memorial service will be held in Melbourne, Fla., in September.
