ORCA receives Dyer Difference Award

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Dyer Chevrolet and Dyer Mazda Subaru are pleased to announce the 73rd recipient of the Dyer Difference Award. This award salutes a non-profit organization in Indian River County that is truly making a difference in our community.

Dyer Chevrolet and Dyer Mazda Subaru presented the Dyer Difference Award along with a $3,000 check to June’s recipient: ORCA.

The mission of the Ocean Research & Conservation Association (ORCA) is to protect and restore aquatic ecosystems and the species they sustain through the development of innovative technologies and science-based conservation action.

The Dyer award helped fund the purchase of Kilroys which are monitoring devices being placed in the Indian River Lagoon. They track flow patterns of polluted water as well as create a pollution map of the entire 156 miles of the Indian River Lagoon.

With the help of these Kilroys, it will be possible to identify the accumulation of pollutants at every site and help form an effective plan to restore the health of our Lagoon.
