INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Indian River State College is now offering Surgical Technology Accelerated Alternate Delivery (AAD) as an online class starting this summer. This is a course for those with careers in Surgical Technology who are looking to increase job security, improve their qualifications for promotion in the field and have greater career mobility through certification.
The class is completely online, allowing those busy schedules more flexibility in completing this valuable training at their own pace. Once the training is complete, completers will be prepared to take their certification exam.
Those interested in the program need to provide:
Provide clinical documentation that two of the last four years of experiences is consistent with the current edition of Association of Surgical Technologist’s (AST) core curriculum for surgical technology.
Two letters of surgical technology competency recommendation from current or former supervisor.
Be currently employed as a surgical technician in the scrub role.
Successfully pass pre-assessment exam.
