Genealogical president to speak at Pelican Island Preservation meeting June 30

SEBASTIAN — Florida State Genealogical Society President Pamela Cooper will give a presentation at this month’s Pelican Island Preservation Society meeting of the George Nelson glass slide collection dating back to the early 1900s.

Nelson first came to Sebastian from Maine in 1901 and took thousands of photos of the flora and fauna of Indian River County. His glass slide collection is by far the largest visual collection of his work and includes images of Pelican Island, Swan Island, Honduras, Cuba, and a small portion of his many slides of flowers and wildlife.

Please join PIPS for this free program on June 30th, 7 p.m. at the North Indian River County Library, 1001 Sebastian Blvd. in Sebastian.
