Meet Zac and Josie – H.A.L.O. Rescue’s Pet of the Week

SEBASTIAN — While vacationing in the Bahamas, a local resident woke up one morning to the sound of gunshots and crying. She rushed to the scene and found a male mastiff/bulldog mix had been shot twice in the chest. A female bulldog next to him barely escaped a bullet to the head; instead she had a mark where the bullet had grazed the top of her nose.

Immediately, the woman who discovered the two wounded animals began rendering aid. Eventually they were flown to a veterinary clinic and treated successfully.

Once in the United States, both dogs tested positively for heart worms, and remained in the care of their rescuer as she sought out a shelter who would guarantee the two dogs would find a home together.

Now, H.A.L.O. Rescue in Sebastian is continuing to care for the two dogs and is actively searching for a good, safe home and a new family who will care for them both. Their road to recovery has been long, but according to staff at H.A.L.O., both dogs will still have unconditional love and devotion for the kind human(s) who take them home!

Visit H.A.L.O. Rescue at 710 Jackson St., Sebastian, or call (772) 589-7297 for more information on Zac and Josie and other pets available for adoption.
