INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Indian River County is under a Severe Weather Advisory until 4:45 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued the advisory due to strong wind gusts between 45 and 55 mph and small hail reported over eastern Indian River County.
The NWS Doppler Radar picked up a storm capable of producing strong winds and small hail over Pointe West moving east at 15 mph.
The primary threat, according to the NWS, will be cloud to ground lightning strikes and gusty winds that can cause unsecured objects to blow around, snap tree limbs and cause power outages.
The NWS advises people seek shelter indoors until the storm passes.
