Joan Frances Holcomb, 74, of Vero Beach, passed away on June 16, 2014.
She is survived by her loving husband, Walter Ron Holcomb; son, Jay (Faith) Redmond; step-daughter Cheri Moser; and five grandchildren, Sarah Redmond, James Redmond, Mitchell Moser, Michael Moser, and Matthew Moser.
Holcomb was born to the late John and Anastasia Petrovich on May 10, 1940, in New York City. She grew up in Seaside Heights, N.J. and graduated from Toms River Central High School in 1958. She went on to earn a BA from Florida Southern College and a MA from Florida International University.
She was a lifelong educator who had a passion for books and literature. She served a distinguished career at Palm Beach Community College, retiring as Dean of Career and Technical Education in 2003.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the VNA Hospice House of the Treasure Coast at 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
