Naked man discovered trespassing in Gifford home

GIFFORD — The Indian River County Sherffi’s Office responded to a call in Gifford Friday to a naked man trespassing in a person’s home, according to authorities.

Jermichael Cummings, 59, of Gifford, faces charges of trespass or attempted trespass of an occupied dwelling, exposure of sexual organs, and resisting arrest without violence, according to the report.

Cummings then left the residence running down the road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

As the officer was exiting the vehicle, “That’s him” was yelled from a nearby house. Cummings continued to run toward the patrol car, though he was told to stop. He then fell onto the hood of the officer’s car and rolled off.

After a brief struggle to keep him on the ground, the officer was able to place him into handcuffs. Cummings appeared to be under the influence of an impairing substance.

Cummings was very incoherent, according to authorities. The victim said Cummings was naked when he entered her home telling her, “Someone’s after me.”

She told him to leave but he kept talking and moving around the house.

Cummings is still in custody with a bond at $1,500 bond at the Indian River County Jail.
