INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — One northbound lane on I-95 beginning just North of State Road 60 at Exit 147 and continuing to the Indian River County/Brevard County line, will be closed today, June 10, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. due to construction.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, as part of the 12.5-mile build project that began in May 2013, I-95 is being widened by one lane in both directions and undergoing several other improvements.
Other improvements listed by FDOT in an official release include milling and resurfacing the existing lanes, signalization and lighting improvements, removal and replacement of the existing bridges over County Road 512, construction of a noise barrier wall adjacent to the Encore Sunshine Travel RV Resort, and reconstruction of the interchange at County Road 512 including the ramps and turn lanes.
The highway will also receive several Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) improvements including closed-circuit television cameras, dynamic message signs, and vehicle detectors.
Construction is expected to be completed in early 2016 at a cost of $50.6 million.
