INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — One person died in a crash involving a semitrailer and another vehicle on Interstate 95 Friday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Murray Fortunoff, 83, of Delray Beach, Fla. died when his Nissan Maxima struck the left rear corner of a semitrailer driven by Alexander Perez, 42, of Miami, according to FHP. Fortunoff was traveling southbound on I-95. After he struck the semitrailer his vehicle rotated and overturned and came to rest in the median.
Fortunoff was pronounced dead on the scene, he was not using a seat belt according to FHP. The southbound lanes were closed until 1:15 a.m. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
