Vero Beach student chosen for Ultimate Frisbee World Championships

VERO BEACH — Ryan Hiser, a Vero Beach High School senior and Ultimate Frisbee athlete, was chosen to be a member of Team USA this July at the World Flying Disc Federation’s World Junior Ultimate Championships in Lecco, Italy.

USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of Ultimate Frisbee in the United States, selected Hiser as the only athlete from the state of Florida. He will compete with his teammates in hopes of taking home the USA’s sixth straight gold medal in the event.

The World Junior Ultimate Championships will take place  July 20 through July 26.

Forty teams and approximately 1,000 athletes will make the trip for the championships this year.
