Vero Beach man arrested on 10 child pornography charges

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Richard James Brower, 44, of Vero Beach, is being held on $200,000 bond after being arrested at his home on at least 10 child pornography charges.

An internet investigation led by Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent Keren Ortiz led officials to point to Brower’s laptop as one that was “advertising files of suspected child pornography,” according to the arrest affidavit.

Officials obtained a search warrant for Brower’s address and seized a Dell laptop computer that contained at least 10 videos of child pornography depicting children between the ages of 4 and 14, and a San Disk thumb drive that also contained lewd videos.

Brower, a registered sex offender, told officials that both the laptop and the thumb drive belonged to him.

His parents, who also reside at the Vero Beach home, each said they did not use their son’s computer, according to the report.
