Wayne Anderson Vaughn, 83, of Vero Beach, passed away on May 20, 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Donna Vaughn; daughters, Melanie Vaughn, Letitia Vaughn (Todd), Shauna Lee (Donald), Tamara Knight (Chuck); sons, Basil Ball (Nancy), and Jonathan Ball (Kathy); 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Vaughn was born Oct. 15, 1926, and grew up on his family’s farm in Louisa. At 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country for six years during World War II. Returning to Louisa, Vaughn met and married Donna Ridenour.
Over the years, he was very active in his service to the Lord, serving as both a Deacon and lay Preacher in the Southern Baptist Church. He had a love and dedication to mission work, making numerous missionary trips to India, Mexico and Indonesia, as well as working in the missionary field here in the United States.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, unwavering in his love and generosity to family and friends alike. He was a great mentor, always taking the time to share his many skills and vast experience.
