Russell Crosby Clark Jr., 88, Vero Beach
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Jones Clark; her children and grandchildren; his children, Catherine Clark Obert (Serge), David A. Clark (Susan); and grandchildren, Annie, Brendan, Jaffrey, and Chelsea.
Brown was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was he only child of Russell C. Clark, Sr. and Doris Burn Clark. He was born on Staten Island June 2, 1925.
Clark graduated from St. Paul’s School in Concord, N.H., in 1943 and attended Yale University until he enrolled in the Navy and trained as a naval aviator.
He worked with his father in metals trading in Manhattan, then for the Palmer Engine Company in Cos Cob, Conn. He later worked as a realtor and as a yacht broker.
Clark had a lifetime love of boating. Until his passing, he and his wife Carol continued to enjoy their 30-foot Maineship, the “CB”, docked at the East Chop Yacht Club on Martha’s Vineyard. He was passionate about golf, and shared his love of the game regularly with friends and family.
He moved to St. David’s Island, Grand Harbor in 1992. One of his neighbors, Carol Jones, was to become his golf partner, soul mate and wife. The couple was married in Vero Beach on April 26, 2001 at the Trinity Episcopal Chapel. The couple divided their year between Grand Harbor and East Chop. They loved to voyage and traveled extensively around the world visiting Europe and the Mediterranean, South Africa, South America, the South Pacific, New Zealand and just last fall, Norway.
Memorial Services will be held in Vero Beach at the Trinity Episcopal Church on May 22, at 4 p.m. Another memorial will be held at East Chop, Martha’s Vineyard later in the summer.
