INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An inmate of the Indian River County jail faces an additional charge of battery after deputies say he assaulted a fellow inmate, first kissing him and then hitting him twice in the face, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
George Ercollin, 31, faces a charge of battery on a detained person, according to the report.
The victim was in a dorm with several other inmates and made a comment that he was fortunate to have a large industrial fan in the dorm that was not being used, according to authorities.
He got up from his bottom bunk and walked over to the fan when Ercollin yelled over to the victim, telling him to point it toward him.
According to the arrest report, the victim felt Ercollin was talking down to him so he did not move the fan.
Ercollin got up from his bunk and confronted the victim, grabbed him, and kissed him on the mouth, authorities said. And, as Ercollin let the victim go, Ercollin struck him in the face twice.
Ercollin was locked down and was informed he now faced a charge of battery on a detainee.
Before this, Ercollin faced three other counts of battery, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
