Carl E. Stewart, of Vero Beach, passed away on May 15, 2014.
He is survived his wife, Jo; daughter, Michele Viar (Stephen); son, Carl Stewart II (Shannon); and grandchildren, Connor and Brody Stewart, Jake, Nick and Devon Viar.
He was born on Nov. 27 1926, in Springfield Ill., and has been a resident of Indian River County for 18 years. He joined the Navy in 1945 and saw combat in WWII. He made the Navy a career retiring in 1974 as a Master Chief Petty Officer.
A memorial service will be held at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church on Tuesday, May 20, at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
