Blue Water Open Dolphin tournament rescheduled for Saturday

FT. PIERCE — The 38th Annual Blue Water Open Dolphin Mania Charity Fishing Tournament has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 24, due to predicted small craft warnings on the original date.

Lines go in the water at 6:30 a.m. The fish weigh-in takes place by 4:30 p.m. at Fort Pierce City Marina, One Avenue A, Fort Pierce (one-eighth mile south of the South Bridge on the ICW), where awards will be presented at 5 p.m.

The Treasure Coast-wide dolphin-only event is one of the area’s oldest tournaments.

First prize for the largest dolphin weighed in is $5,000, second prize is $2,000, and third prize is $1,000.

Five “Bounty Booty Winners” will receive $400 each. The mandatory Captains’ Meeting will be held Friday, May 23, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Marina’s bleachers.

All the proceeds of this popular tournament benefit local projects for the prevention of child abuse in the local community, according to John Binkley, tournament chair.
