FELLSMERE — The City of Fellsmere recently concluded its annual audit using Vero Beach-based firm Rehmann Robson and received a “clean” audit.
CPA Christine Horrocks, of Rehmann Robson, presented the firm’s findings Thursday before the Fellsmere City Council.
She told the Council the firm received full cooperation from the City’s staff and that Finance Director Larry Napier is up to speed on accounting standards and practice.
“There were no issues at all,” Horrocks said, later adding there is “nothing to be overly concerned about.”
As with previous audits, the firm found there to be a lack of separation of duties among Finance Department staff. However, due to the small size of the department, that is to be expected, according to Horrocks.
She said that because the Council oversees the City’s financials regularly, that helps to mitigate the risk.
Council members had no questions regarding the audit and unanimously approved accepting the findings.
“I’m just glad it’s done,” Napier said.
