BREVARD — A Sebastian man bicycling in Valkaria was struck and killed May 7, the Florida Highway Patrol released.
The crash occured at 4:20 p.m. in the area of US 1 and Valkaria Road in southern Brevard County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, David Ohaver, 55, of Sebastian, was riding his bicycle in the bike path adjacent to southbound US 1 when a 2013 Dodge Pickup truck also traveling south on US 1 struck him.
The truck was driven by Vero Beach resident, Kevin Paukner, 57, FHP said.
Paukner’s truck traveled off the road and onto the bike path, according to FHP.
After the collision, Paukner’s truck continued forward and eventually crashed into a ditch near 1st Street.
The FHP is investigating the possibility that Paukner suffered a medical condition during the incident.
