Philip Lionel ‘Phil’ Landry, 91, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 28, 2014.

He is survived by his twin children, Larry Landry and Linda Landry Miller; grandchildren, Kyle Miller, and Caitlin Landry Miller; half sister, Sylvia Gelinas (Robert); and nephews, David Pomerleau, and Thomas Pomerleau.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Courtney Alyssa Miller, and his sister, Lucille “Lou” Pomerleau.

His children will miss him terribly and were grateful to be at his side at the time of his passing. His grandchildren will always remember his clever humor, big heart, wild sense of adventure, and gentle soul.

Landry was always proud of his father Ovid’s achievements as a decorated World World I veteran, and enlisted himself in the Army during World War II, later shifting to the Air Force.

He was trained as a ball gunner on Air Force B-12s and was stationed in Africa. He was recognized for his participation in the European Africa Middle Eastern Campaign and the American Theatre Campaign. He received his Honorable Discharge on December 10, 1945.

After the war, Landry earned an accounting degree in Maine, married Dorothy Charest, and moved to Ft. Lauderdale, where their children were born. Eventually he and his family settled in Boca Raton, where the children were raised.

Landry worked 20 years as a letter carrier for the US Post Office, as well as a mason in numerous construction projects in Boca Raton and the surrounding cities. After retirement, he moved to Vero Beach and resided there for 17 years.

He will be greatly missed by his family for whom he has provided steady guidance, care and concern throughout his years. He is a familiar figure in Vero Beach where he was known for his kind disposition and good humor, and recognized by his dashing striped hat.

Memories and notes to the family will be received by Strunk Funeral Home at 916 17th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960. A guest book is available at www.strunkfuneralhome.com.
