Gifford man shot in head during argument

GIFFORD — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday evening in Gifford. One person was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center to be treated for a gunshot wound to the head.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the gunfire was a result of an argument between two men in the 3800 block of 44th Place around 7 p.m. April 30.

A 23-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said. They do not believe the wound to be life threatening.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released the names of the victim nor suspect.

Detectives, crime scene personnel and deputies remain on the scene and have closed 44th Place between 38th and 39th avenues. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
