Scheu was an amazing woman who possessed a tremendous intellect. It was often said that she could run a small country single-handedly. She was a successful business woman who, for twenty-five years, co-owned and operated a coal brokerage company in Ohio with her first husband, Bill Beynon.
She was also a talented Interior Designer and practiced in Akron for several years. She married Lester Scheu in 1974 and they moved to Palm Coast where they founded a company that sold machines for cleaning industrial vehicles. They moved to Vero Beach in 1986 and sold real estate with her family’s company, Laurel Agency, until their retirement in 1995.
Scheu was a beautiful woman who modeled for many years. She loved music, especially the big band era, and was a fabulous dancer. In her younger years people would clear the dance floor just to watch her.
She was wonderfully competitive and delighted in winning at golf and cards and crossword puzzles in her younger years and at Rummikub and jigsaw puzzles in recent years.
She had a quick wit and a sparkle in her eye. She was a strong willed woman and was affectionately referred to as “Queenie” because she truly was the Queen of our family. She loved her family fiercely and adored her husband, Lester.
Scheu was a devout Christian who cherished Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a past member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church of Palm Coast, where she served as Assistant Chair of the Decorating Committee for their new church. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Vero Beach.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2555 58th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32966.
