VERO BEACH — The Firefly Run to help the Senior Resource Association has been canceled, according to the staff at Dodgertown.
VERO BEACH — The Senior Resource Association is pleased to announce its second nationally-recognized, fun 5K walk/run coming to Indian River County to raise dollars for its non-profit organization for seniors.
The Firefly Run, another family-friendly event, will be coming to Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach on April 26, and will start at dusk.
“The Firefly Run brings friends and family together in a unique and unforgettable evening of fun,” said Jerry Su, President and CEO of the Firefly Run. “We are very excited to work with the Senior Resource Association and Historic Dodgertown to bring the Firefly run to Vero Beach in 2014.”
The glowing Firefly Run is a night event with flashing lights given to all participants giving off the “firefly” effect, glow-and-the-dark accessories, lasers, fun music, the world’s largest LED race panel, a special dance performance and a costume contest prior to the start of the race with fantastic prizes.
All participants will receive a Firefly Run tech t-shirt, two Firefly Run 3M Reflective LED light bands, Glow-in-the –dark participant wristband and a race bib with optional timing chip. All registrants are given the option to walk or run the course timed or untimed. All family members, any age, are encouraged to participate.
Those interested in signing up can use the promo code SRA2014 to receive $5 off each registration and 15 percent of all promo code entries will be donated to the Senior Resource Association.
“We are looking forward to hosting another exciting 5K event here in Vero Beach for our organization to continue helping local seniors in Indian River County,” said Senior Resource Association President and CEO Karen Deigl.
Last year, SRA hosted a Color Me Rad 5K at Pointe West in Vero Beach bringing in more than 3,000 participants. The numbers for the race are expected to increase this year.
Pre-registration runs Nov. 1-30 for $25 untimed and $30 timed. In December, registration will increase to $35 untimed and $40 timed. In January, registration will increase to $45.
