INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Chris Beals, owner of ABC Printing Company of Sebastian and Vero Beach, has announced that he is running for a seat on the Indian River County School Board. An Indian River County resident for more than 30 years, Beals has been directly associated with school district activities by serving for five years as Chairman of the Indian River County School Board Audit Committee.
Beals’ wife, Sally, soon to be retired, has worked for the past 18 years as a media assistant at Osceola Magnet School.
Beals and his wife have been personally involved in many activities at the school level. Along with this and attendance at many board meetings, workshops and union negotiation sessions Beals has become very knowledgeable about the issues facing all stake holders in the school district.
“The emphasis on STEM is admirable,” said Beals, an advocate of STEAM: Science, technology, engineering, ART, and math. “It takes all of these subjects to keep children excited about coming to school each day.”
“A successful school board member must have the proven ability to listen, learn, analyze, and act with reason and common sense. They should, also, be cognizant of the fact that all actions taken should be continually reviewed and evaluated for their effectiveness.”
The civic minded Beals has lent his support to many local organizations, as a member of the Indian River County and Sebastian Area Chambers of Commerce, Main Street Vero Beach, Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic Board, and Little League Baseball.
He has been a supporter, Boys & Girls Clubs, the Homeless Family Center, Indian River County Scholarship Foundation(formerly Dollars for Scholars), Indian River County Public Libraries, Indian River Medical Society, H.A.L.O Rescue., St. Francis Manor, Sebastian River High School Baseball, Vero Beach High School Marching Band, Sebastian Charter Junior High School, The United Way, Character Counts, 4-H, Vero Beach Diamond Booster Club, Indian River Genealogical Society, Under the Oaks, Thomas/Powell Memorial Scholarship Foundation and the Hibiscus Festival.
All three of the Beals’ grown sons attended Indian River County Public Schools. A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, with a degree in business, Beals studied management, marketing, and accounting. He served in the Illinois National Guard – U.S. Army.
“I have the experience, education and community involvement vital for the next District 4 School Board Member to be effective. Together we will be better in our efforts to educate and inspire all students in Indian River County.”
