SEBASTIAN — A new monument honoring veterans of the recent and current wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Global War on Terror will be erected on Memorial Day, May 26, at Memorial Park in Sebastian.
The Veterans Advisory Council recommended the plan for the monument that will match existing granite markers at the park honoring veterans of wars passed, at a meeting on Tuesday.
Sebastian City Council gave its final stamp of approval at its meeting on Wednesday evening.
Veterans of the three conflicts living in Indian River County are encouraged to attend the Memorial Day Service for the unveiling of the new monument so they can be properly recognized and honored for their service.
