Janice Lee Greene, 79, Vero Beach

Janice Lee Greene, 79, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 1, 2014.

Greene spent her final days on this earth surrounded by the love and devotion of her children and grandchildren and the peaceful sounds of the ocean.

After marrying Thomas P. Koby in 1954 they began raising a busy family of seven children in Ohio. In 1979, they fulfilled their longtime dream when they moved their family to Merritt Island, and later loved living in Vero Beach. They were married for 43 years full of love and family until his death in 1996.

Greene was again blessed when she fell in love and married Jack I. Greene in 2000. He was a true southern gentleman and they shared five and a half very loving years together until his death in 2006. Together, they made all of our lives richer and with more precious memories to treasure.

Greene will always be loved and remembered by her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren as a very smart and strong woman. She ministered to countless others throughout her lifetime through Cub Scouts, Sunday School, volunteer work at Children’s Homes, housing foster children, and countless other organizations.

This ministry continued later in her life when she joined First United Methodist Church, shared her talents in the choir, and worked together with some very special friends to create a group called The Tough Old Birds. They worked together to provide Christian fellowship, encouragement, and support for those that suffered the loss of a loved one.

Her sense of humor, her determination, love of all things cooking, and always listening with a nonjudgmental and loving ear are what her family will remember and treasure as true blessings.

At Greene’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Her family will celebrate her life with a private memorial. The family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to VNA Hospice of Vero Beach 1110 35th Lane Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:8.
