Driver ‘lucky to be alive’ after semitrailer hits truck

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A driver is “lucky to be alive,” according to a witness, after a semitrailer hit a vehicle Wednesday around 6:30 p.m.

“The sound was horrendous; he’s lucky to be alive,” said Barbara Prince who was in a nearby scene at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred at 43rd Avenue and 41st Street involving a Dodge Ram 1500 truck and a semitrailer with heavy damage to the truck.

The driver of the Dodge was transported to Indian River Medical Center and the occupants of the semi appeared uninjured.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.

VERO BEACH — Another crash also occurred at 21st Street and 10th Avenue, according to Indian River County Fire Rescue. One driver was flown to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center after their vehicle suffered heavy damage.
