Leisure Square offers ‘Community Enjoyment’ day April 5

VERO BEACH — The Vero City Recreation Department has announced that the first Saturday of each month will be a Free Community Enjoyment Day at Leisure Square. The hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the sports and exercise complex is located at 3705 16th Street in Vero Beach.

“Since we experienced a successful Community Open House on March 1, we had numerous requests to open the facility to the public on a free basis more often, so we have decided to move forward in doing so,” said Rob Slezak, the City of Vero Beach Recreation Department Director. “With the spring and summer months in front of us, we anticipate many people will have more time to utilize our facility and we look forward to the community visiting us to enjoy everything we have to offer.”

Leisure Square offers an array of family entertainment including the use of the gym, a fully lifeguarded lap pool, volleyball, basketball and open fields for informal soccer or kickball games, as well as beautiful grassy areas and shaded seating areas to enjoy a picnic lunch.

The community is urged to bring their own sporting equipment, food, drink, towels and chairs. There are numerous bathroom facilities and ample parking.

Jeff Matthews, Leisure Square resident manager, is excited about opening Leisure Square to the community to enjoy.

“We see new faces all the time who eventually become part of our family,” Matthews said. “People not only enjoy all the facilities we offer on our expansive campus, but they like the sense of community they find here. Everyone is always happy and the good feeling just spreads. We know that once more people in the community visit, they too will feel the same way.”
