INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Florida Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, March 26, from 5:30 p.m., to 7:30 p.m., at the Polish-American Social Club, in regards to proposed improvements of US 1 from County Road 510 to 53rd Street.
According to the official flyer, the meeting is “being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.”
The proposed project would widen US 1 from four to six lanes. Listed needs for the project included in official material are, to accommodate future traffic and transit needs based on anticipated population and employment growth, enhance emergency response and evacuation times, enhance bicycle and pedestrian access.
A tentative project schedule lists an alternatives public workshop in October of 2014, a public hearing in March 2015, and location and design concept acceptance in December 2015.
The Polish-American Club is located at 7500 US 1 in Vero Beach.
