Downtown Friday in Vero Beach features Sock Hop Doo-Wop

VERO BEACH — Main Street Vero Beach is having a Sock Hop at Downtown Friday on March 28 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. along 14th Avenue in Historic Downtown Vero.

Put on your poodle skirts and saddle shoes, dance to ‘50s and ‘60s music and doo-wop sounds from Sha-Boom, and reminisce about the drive-in days with muscle cars from the period courtesy of the featured charity of the month the Antique Automobile Club of America Indian River Region.

Made possible with the help of Budweiser, The Breeze 93.7, J&J Management, White Glove and Harbor Storage the retro concert will feature an assortment of creative street merchants, food vendors, special entertainment during the band breaks, and more.

Sha-Boom performs Doo-wop standards and hits from the ‘50s to ‘70s both a cappella and with musical accompaniment. Much more than a mere nostalgia act, they bring joy, energy, and experience to their music making their songs as vital, powerful, and exciting as they were when you first heard them.

Main Street’s monthly featured charity is the Indian River Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

The Antique Automobile Club of America is the largest auto-related club in the United States. The Indian River Region was established in 1976 by a small group of people who loved and enjoyed driving old vehicles. It has grown to more than 160 members today who own cars, trucks, and motorcycles dating from the early 1900s up to 1983. The club meets monthly and participates in at least one organized tour or event each month. Their members enjoy driving their cars and a typical tour may have everything from a 1914 Model T Ford to a 1957 Chevy to a 1974 MGB.
