Atlantic Classical Orchestra features Rossini, Mendelssohn, Beethoven

VERO BEACH — Artistic Director and Conductor Stewart Robertson and the Atlantic Classical Orchestra will close the 2014 Concert Series with a rousing and firework-filled program of beloved traditional favorites with an April 3 performance at the Waxlax Center in Vero Beach at 8 p.m. and two concerts April 4 at the Lyric Theatre in Stuart at 4 and 8 p.m.

The concerts offer Gioachino Rossini’s popular Barber of Seville Overture, Felix Mendelssohn’s brilliant Piano Concerto No. 1 and Ludwig van Beethoven’s masterful “Eroica” Symphony.

“Atlantic Classical Orchestra closes its 2014 Concert Series with a fun, energetic and exciting program that will have audiences waiting for the start of the 2015 season,” said Maestro Robertson. “Opening the concerts is the overture to Rossini’s comedic masterpiece, the Barber of Seville, a work well-known in popular culture as the piece conducted by Bugs Bunny! Rising star and native Floridian Lindsay Garritson returns to joins us as soloist in Mendelssohn’s brilliant Piano Concerto No 1 in G Minor with its stunning solo part, and we close the program with Beethoven’s innovative tour de force, his Symphony No. 3.”

Maestro Robertson’s popular pre-concert lectures, which offer concertgoers captivating insights about the repertoire, begin 50 minutes prior to each performance.

The Atlantic Classical Orchestra’s new open dress rehearsals series connected to the ACO Concert Series also presents its final event of the season at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens . Offering an up-close look into performance preparation, the free event, which has become quite popular in its inaugural season, will take place at 2:15 p.m. in the afternoon on Tuesday, April 1, and will be followed by a reception where the audience will have the opportunity to interact with the musicians.

Tickets for the Vero Beach performance are $55.The pre-concert lecture will begin at 7:10 p.m. with the concert following at 8 p.m. The Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts is located at St. Edwards School, Vero Beach.
