Speed drops overnight Thursday on I-95

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Drivers travelling Interstate 95 in Indian River County will notice a dramatic drop in the speed during the early morning hours of Thursday.

Beginning Midnight until 5 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol will perform a traffic pacing operation to temporarily slow motorists to 20 mph on both northbound and southbound I-95 from north of State Road 60 to north of the County Road 512 / Fellsmere Road exit – between mile markers 149 and 163.

The reason for the massive slowdown is for utility work being conducted across the highway.

Motorists are asked to use caution and expect a periodic delay. Motorists should also prepare to temporarily stop, if necessary.
