Beverly L. Blair, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away on March 7, after a brief illness, on what would have been the 71st anniversary celebrated by her and her devoted husband Jack who predeceased her in Feb. 2013.
She is survived by four children, Leslie Haatvedt (Larry), Laura Harrison (Mike), David (Teresa), and John (Julie); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings Janet Houk, Patricia Duffett, and Roger Grimes.
Gregarious and energetic, Blair loved to celebrate all events with family, friends, laughter, and of course champagne. March 21 would have been her 89th birthday.
A world traveler, gifted artist, and spiritual student and teacher, Blair was born in Marshalltown, Iowa and moved to Miami with her family as a teenager. Glamorous from the start, she was runner-up in the Miss Florida Beauty contest and went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Jack, after they met on a blind date.
Always putting family first, Blair was a loving mother to her four children, and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After Blair was a Christian Science Practitioner and reader in Miami Shores, she became a devoted student and teacher of Joel Goldsmith’s The Infinite Way and, later, of Unity.
She was a gifted interior designer with Cameron Interiors before she and Jack retired to Vero Beach in 1992. Recently, Beverley dreamed of a Peace Pavilion at Unity and so, to honor her memory, donations may be made to: The Peace Pavilion at Unity Church of Vero Beach, 950 NE 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A celebration of Beverley’s life will be held Saturday, April 5, at 11:30 a.m., at Unity Church of Vero Beach, followed by lunch at the home of David and Teresa Blair.
