Coolidge Judah, of Judah and Sons Fish Market, passes at 90

SEBASTIAN — James Coolidge Judah, one of the founders and owners of Judah and Sons Fish Market, has passed away at the age of 90 at his home in Sebastian. He died on March 20, 2014.

Judah was one of the founding commercial fishermen of the Indian River, who with his father, Bascomb Judah, and his brothers, opened the fish market in 1949.

Judah was born Oct. 25, 1923, to Bascomb and Bessie Leila Judah, in Holmes County, Fla. He lived in Sebastian for 75 years coming from his birthplace.

Judah was a loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was a genuine soul that took pride in providing for his family while doing what he loved most, living his life on the river.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Viola S. Judah; children, Linda Colvin, Bobby Judah, Vicki Birch, and Kevin Judah; stepchildren, Diane Lloyd, Kathy Siebert, Margaret Goodwin and Joe Warren, all of Sebastian; sister, Kathleen Baird; 17 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Coolidge was preceded in death by three siblings; a grandson and a nephew.

Visitation will be held from 1 – 3 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian. A Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Strunk Funeral Home.
