INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce has launched a new mobile app designed for visitors to the area as well as for the county’s residents.
The app will be revealed in the County Commission Chambers at 3:30 p.m. March 27.
The app was developed by the Tourism Division of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce as a method of providing up to date technology based information on eating, sleeping and playing in this area. The event is being promoted by the Vero Alliance, a consortium including the Cultural Council of Indian River County, Main Street Vero Beach, Oceanside Business Association, the Indian River County Historical Society and the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce. The Alliance represents more than 150 years of promoting Vero Beach and has shared an ongoing relationship since 1996.
The app incorporates an “Eat, Stay & Play” directory that will engage visitors with information that will enhance their stay with included turn-by-turn directions, connected social media accounts, integrations with Yelp and OpenTable.
“The integration of this technology into our marketing strategies will allow us to promote the area to anyone, anytime from anyplace” said Allison McNeal, the Chamber’s Tourism Director.
Visitors will also have the ability to search for events and, with one-touch technology, conveniently “save” events to their smartphone calendar.
“Analytics will provide us the ability to see relative data that will be of value in our future planning and marketing efforts” said McNeal. “That information will also be shared with our partners who will also assist in maintaining app updates.”
The app is available for free download from the Apple Store and through Google Play Store. Key word searches for the app are Vero Beach, Sebastian and Fellsmere.
The public is welcome to attend the March 27 launch event to learn how the mobile revolution will connect them, and visitors, with businesses and the community.
