Thomas Micahel McDermott, 77, of Sebastian, passed away on March 7, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce; sons Thomas (Jill) and John (Sydney); sister Mary; sister-in-law JoAnn Klein; and four grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Rob, and Katie.
McDermott was born on June 16, 1936 in Queens, N.Y.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958. After discharge, he worked as an A&P mechanic for both Pan American and Eastern Airlines until his retirement in 1998.
In 1967, he and his family moved to Pembroke Pines, Fla., and then to Sebastian in 1999.
In recent years, McDermott and his wife enjoyed several vacation trips to the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. He also enjoyed building ship models, making stained glass lampshades, boating on the Indian River, and spending time with his grandchildren.
An 11 a.m. memorial service is scheduled for Saturday March 22, at St. Sebastian Church followed by a reception at his home.
