Anne “Dolly” C. (Romano) Penza, 90, of Vero Beach, formerly of Pawtucket, R.I., passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Thursday, March 13, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of Silvio S. Penza for 61 years.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Vito and Camella (Facienda) Romano, she resided in Pawtucket most of her life before moving to Vero Beach in November of 2006. She was a 1942 graduate of Pawtucket West High School.
Anne enjoyed reading, was a wonderful cook and relished the role of family matriarch. A devout Catholic and lover of all animals, Anne also devoted her time as a volunteer for the Rhode Island Supervisor of Elections in Pawtucket. She had been employed by Petro Oil Company, Pawtucket and St. Joseph Hospital, Providence.
Besides her loving husband, she leaves three children, Darlene (Jack) Dube, of Vero Beach, Carole Anne Penza, and Stephan Penza, of Vero Beach; daughters-in-law, Joni Penza and Lynne Harrison; grandchildren, Stacey, Tyler and Jamie Penza; sister, Sophie Campopiano; nieces, nephews and the rest of her family and friends.
She was the sister of the late Dominic, Frank and Victor Romano, Frances Granger, Mary Pezzi and Theresa Holan.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from William W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Maria Goretti Church, 155 Power Road, Pawtucket. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
