INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Firefighters’ Indian River County Fair has officially been closed for Monday, March 17, according to the fair’s general manager Toby Turner.
“Due to the expected bad weather, we have chosen to cancel the fair this evening rather than risk opening it and getting everyone out here just to have to close it down,” Turner said.
Turner added the “Dyer Auto carload special” that was scheduled for tonight will now be offered on Wednesday instead. The special allows up to seven passengers buckled in a car to receive admission and unlimited ride bands for $60. Traditionally, the carload special night is one of the most attended nights of the fair.
Turner said he and his team are working diligently to contact vendors and entertainers about the cancellation, but for now, the entertainment schedule for the rest of the week will remain in tact as planned.
Finally, Turner asked for the public’s assistance in spreading the word about the fair’s closing.
