‘Drunk’ lies in traffic, stops cars on US 1

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A self-proclaimed drunk man, stopped traffic on US 1 in the 8700 block, by lying in the middle of the southbound lanes, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Obdulio Rodriguez, 61, faces a charge of disorderly intoxication. According to authorities, Saturday around 5 p.m. he reportedly lied down in the middle of traffic on US 1.

Rodriguez said he was drunk and not hurt. Rodriguez tried to steady himself on his bicycle without the kickstand down when he fell again.

A witness said Rodriguez was lying in the middle of the lanes and would not get up, according to the Sheriff’s Office. This caused both lanes of traffic to stop.

All Rodriguez could do when asked questions by authorities was curse in English and Spanish, according to the report.

“F***k you b***h I’m Puerto Rican I’ll f****n’ kill you,” he told authorities, according to the arrest report. “Remember my face I’ll kill you.”
