Sally Igoe Cole, 89, of Vero Beach, passed away in Annapolis, Md., on March 9, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Sara Alvaro, Elizabeth Finnegan, Maryjo Paz y Miño, and Hugh Cole; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mrs. Charles H. Reynolds Jr. and Mrs. William I. Tracy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Hugh Ashley Cole and two sisters.
Cole was born on Dec. 24, 1924, at home in Jersey City, N.J. She attended Bennington College, and married Hugh Ashley Cole in 1945. They remained together for 58 years until Hugh Cole’s death in 2003. Together they raised their children, traveled widely and built a wide network of friends.
She was an avid and competitive golfer, a gifted artist, and was actively involved in her family’s lives. She and her sisters remained deeply close throughout their lives.
Cole will be remembered Saturday, March 15, at a graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to a local hospice organization.
